“Free trips for children on GO Transit will make travel more affordable for families in Mississauga,” said Sheref Sabawy, MPP. “This good news means that more families can easily enjoy attractions throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area together during March Break and throughout the year.”
Kids 12 and under will travel for free on all GO trains and buses without a PRESTO card. Children can already travel on the TTC and UP Express for free.
“Our Government is committed to making life easier and more affordable for families, and offering free rides for children on the GO will provide significant savings for families,” said Rudy Cuzzetto, MPP for Mississauga-Lakeshore. “It will also help to promote the use of public transit, and help to reduce traffic gridlock in Mississauga, and across the GTA.”
Introducing free rides for children on GO Transit will make travelling across the region more seamless and convenient, as part of the government’s plan to better integrate transit in the GTHA.
“The people spoke, and we listened to them,” said Nina Tangri, MPP for Mississauga-Streetsville. “Our Government for the People is making life more affordable for families, while taking steps to help reduce gridlock by increasing access to public transportation.”
“Letting kids ride GO for free will make taking transit easier and more affordable for parents and kids,” said Minister Yurek. “Whether you’re visiting family or taking a trip to the mall, free trips for children will help families save money and offer parents a low-stress alternative to driving.”
“I am pleased Mississauga families will be able to use the GO Transit system with children riding for free as of March 9th.” Said Natalia Kusendova, MPP for Mississauga-Centre. “This government for the people continues to improve transit and reduce costs for Ontario families.”
“Eight months ago, people asked for a real change. They asked us to help their family make ends meet, and to put more money in their pockets.” Said Amarjot Sandhu, MPP For Brampton West. “As a proud father of two sons, I’m excited about this announcement, and the fact that it would put more money in the pockets of Ontarians. I always say, “We listen, we care and we deliver.””
